Sherwood
The Neighbourhood of Sherwood in Charlottetown, PEI
Sherwood is
an
area
that is located in the Queens county, Prince Edward Island, in the
center of East Royalty. Sherwood is located in the heart of
Charlottetown on the Queen Royalty border and Lot 33 Township.
The
district was originally known as Sherwood Station, as it stood on the
Prince Edward Island Railway from Charlottetown to Royalty Junction
(where the line ran east to Mount Stewart and west to Emerald. The
Sherwood station was replaced
with only one in 1960). The town was established and renamed Sherwood
in 1983. The city was merged with the city of Charlottetown on April
1, 1995.
Sherwood
was an
agricultural
district, east of Common Royal pasture (Canada's new rural farm).
Charlottetown and the West are surrounded by the royalty to the west,
Parkdale to the south, and eastern royalty to the eastern side.
A
major change in Sherwood took place in 1938 when a parcel of 300
hectares (1.2 km) on the northern edge of the general public was
purchased by Charlottetown City to build an airport. Charlottetown
Airport is a historic landmark in the northern part of the city and
have had a significant impact on the post-war development of
Sherwood. During the 1960s-1990s, most of the Sherwood farming area
was built into residence area, bringing about the development of many
isolated homes throughout the space, making Sherwood one of the
leading groups of PEI communities related to individuals.
Sherwood
Island is home to Sherwood Falcons of the Junior Hockey Association,
and the Sherwood Metros of the Prince Edward Island Junior Sea Hockey
Association. Currently the area, Sherwood,
has
a combination of residential, business, and modern stores.

If you leave the Sherwood Elementary School and head north on Maple Ave then east on Pine Dr you'll reach St. Mark's Presbyterian Church located at 7 Tamarac Ave, Charlottetown, PE C1A 6T2.
Leaving St. Mark's Presbyterian Church if you head east to Brackley Point Rd then go north, then turn west on Shamrock Dr you'll reach Sherwood Christian Church located at 9 Lilac Ave, Charlottetown, PE C1A 6L1.
From Sherwood Christian Church head back to Brackley Point Rd, go south, then head west and you'll reach Stonepark Intermediate School located at 50 Pope Ave, Charlottetown, PE C1A 6R8.
Departing Stonepark Intermediate School head south on Brackley Point Rd then Longworth Ave and you'll later reach Charlottetown Home Inspections located at 267 Grafton St, Charlottetown, PE C1A 1L6.
