The Western
Royalty is situated
to the
north-western of the city area
that is along the border
of Spring Park, Sherwood, and Winsloe (all adjacent to Charlottetown)
The North York River separates Cornwall and Charlottetown lies
towards the western part of West Royalty. Its northwestern area (and
that of the city) expands
to
the most popular
city
of Miltonvale Park.
Development
In
the 1960s,
Route 1, the Trans-Canada Highway, was developed locally which led to
increased private and business development. The Industrial Park in
West Royalty was set up by the 1970’s government to improve the
economic situation. It is now widely known as the West Royalty
Business Park.
West
Royalty experienced significant private development in the prominent
Charlottetown region from the 1970s to the 1990s and included a few
independent districts.
The
Shopping Center in Charlottetown was built in 1970, along Route 1 and
2 thus paving the way towards setting up this well renowned shopping
center. The great development of the big box in the 1990s and 2000s
was initially driven by the foundation of the first box office
(Sobeys supermarket) near a shopping mall there are stores, for
example, Canadian Tire, Best Buy, and Walmart Canada nearby. The
highway construction around Charlottetown’s Perimeter towards the
shopping center’s north is another huge asset for the Royalty Power
Center.
History
The
West royalty area was a farming
area present in the
western
part of the Queens
Royalty, from where its name originated.
It was granted a residence title in 1939 officially and was
a village in
1980. In the year 1995, it joined Charlottetown in early April.
Currently
a residential area, West Royalty has a combination of residential,
commercial, and industrial locations just as shopping district on
intersecting of Route 1 and Route 2 and also at Route 2 and Perimeter
Highway.
West Royalty Points of Interest
To take a tour of some West Royalty points of interest, starting at West Royalty Elementary School located at 80 Commonwealth Ave, Charlottetown, PE C1E 2E9 head east on Commonwealth Ave then turn south onto Lower Malpeque Rd and you'll arrive at Capital Honda located at 40 Lower Malpeque Rd, Charlottetown, PE C1E 1R3.
If you leave Capital Honda and head south on Lower Malpeque Rd then turn right onto Kirkdale Rd you'll reach West Royalty Community Centre located at 1 Kirkdale Rd, Charlottetown, PE C1E 1R3.
Leaving West Royalty Community Centre if you head north on Lower Malpeque Rd then east to University Ave you'll reach Andrews of Charlottetown located at 73 Malpeque Rd, Charlottetown, PE C1E 1S3.
From Andrews of Charlottetown head south on University Ave then west on Capital Dr and you'll reach The Rodd Royalty located at 14 Capital Dr, Charlottetown, PE C1A 8C2.
Departing The Rodd Royalty head south on University Ave then turn left onto Grafton St and you'll arrive at Charlottetown Home Inspections located at 267 Grafton St, Charlottetown, PE C1A 1L6.
